Leading up to February I haven’t seen as many Black History month commercials & other promotions. No United Negro College Fund spots, no McDonald’s ‘Calvin’ commercials not even the predictable BET joints. What does all that mean? It means we’re definitely living in a recessed economy. Well, we do have a biracial President who is representing for African-Americans (and Americans in general). What I hope it doesn’t mean is that we have seemingly reached racial equality because I know that is not true – take a look around. Racial equality should be a goal right up there with world peace and because of that belief there are several historical events that are ever-present in my mind. Allow me to put you on to one of these, the case of Dred Scott v. Sanford.
